The fight against corruption as a key factor in the sustainable development of the Republic of Tajikistan
Corruption in the modern world is considered one of the most serious problems, negatively impacting the economic and social development of nations. It not only hinders the work of government agencies but also erodes public trust in the authorities and creates obstacles to the observance of human rights and freedoms. From the very first days of gaining state independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has also identified the fight against this phenomenon as one of the priorities of its policy.
In order to prevent and reduce the level of corruption in the country, a number of regulatory legal acts have been adopted. In particular, after joining the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the legal and organizational foundations of anti-corruption efforts have been significantly strengthened. The adoption of state strategies for different periods has made it possible to carry out the activities of government bodies in this area in a systematic and targeted manner.
The National Anti-Corruption Strategy for the period up to 2030 year is considered a key policy document that defines the main directions of the state’s anti-corruption policy. Its primary goal is to increase the public’s legal literacy, foster a zero- tolerance attitude toward corruption, and eliminate the factors contributing to its emergence.
Within the framework of this strategy, particular attention is being paid to raising public awareness of anti-corruption laws. Because only with the active participation of society and a proper understanding of corruption risks can significant results be achieved. Furthermore, improving legislation, implementing modern management technologies, and ensuring transparency in the activities of government agencies are among the key measures for preventing corruption.
Close cooperation between government agencies, civil society, and international organizations also plays a vital role. International experience shows, that the fight against corruption becomes effective only when all segments of society are aligned. Therefore, the establishment of public councils and commissions on corruption prevention is an important step in this direction.
Overall, combating corruption is a long and complex process that requires a high degree of responsibility from all citizens. Effective implementation of the strategy can contribute to strengthening the rule of law, economic development, and improving the standard of living for the population. Only through joint efforts can a fair and transparent society be built.
