A roundtable dedicated to the presentation of the Credit Guarantee Fund was held at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Tajikistan, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and financial institutions operating in the country.
The Credit Guarantee Fund was established as a non-profit organization by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 364, dated 9 June 2026. The Fund operates under the Financial and Private Sector Development Project, implemented with the support of the World Bank (IDA Grant No. E2040-TJ) through the State Institution Project Implementation Unit “Access to Green Finance and Rural Development Finance” under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Fund's capital amounts to US$17 million.
During the roundtable, participants were introduced to the Fund's operational model, the procedures for selecting partner lending institutions, and the due diligence methodology. The practical terms and conditions of cooperation were also discussed.
The Fund's primary objective is to expand access to credit for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). It provides partial credit guarantees to lending institutions, covering a portion of the credit risk and enabling viable projects to obtain financing in cases where insufficient collateral would otherwise prevent access to loans.
The establishment of the credit guarantee mechanism is envisaged under the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030.
